Poems About The Real Meaning Of Christmas

Christmas is one of the most widely celebrated festivals in the world. The festival marks the birth of the Holy Divine, Lord Jesus Christ on the earth. There are varied views regarding whether 25th December is the original date of birth of Lord Jesus or not. As per an early Christian writer, Sextus Julius Africanus, Lord Jesus incarnated on this date. According to Julius, since the Word of God incarnated from the time of his conception, this meant that, after nine months in the Virgin Mary's womb, Jesus was born on December 25th. However, some scholars vary from this view. As per Louis Duchesne, the date of Christmas is calculated as nine months after the Annunciation on March 25th, the traditional date of the conception of Lord Jesus. However, the majority view today is that 25th December is the birth date of Lord and hence is celebrated as Christmas throughout.

The prime importance of the day is that God came into the world, in the form of man, to atone for the sins of humanity. The festival spreads the message of love and brotherhood. It emphasizes that redemption of man is possible only if he dedicates his life to the welfare of mankind. Christmas reminds the message of the Holy Divine and propagates his noble philosophies. It instills in every man his duty towards the society and his role as a social being. We bring for you some of the well written poems stating the real meaning of Christmas. It will refresh the memories of your loved ones about the true purpose of celebrating Christmas.

Poems On True Meaning Of Christmas

The Real Meaning of Christmas

Two thousand years ago the King of Kings was born.
'The Lamb of God' later made to feel the thorn,
If his words are accepted and not scorned,
They will make us all reborn.

Though God's grace, Joseph and Mary presented
A gift to the world that day, which we can all repay,
by living the ten commandments each and every day.

Try to remember and keep in your heart and mind
Jesus's gospel while here on Earth,
Redemption not a life lived in constant mirth.
Peace on Earth, good will toward man
Everyone should try it, whenever they can.

The Lord gave us the option and choice of 'free will,'
Now it's up to us to fit the bill.

So when you're Christmas shopping for family and friends,
and money is tight at both ends,
Remember that the greatest gift of all,
Is your love of Jesus in the manger stall.
(Poet - P. Martino)

The Eve Of Christmas

Two thousand years have almost gone by
Since Jesus was nailed on a cross to die
His teachings
were done by words and deed
And thousand would listen, and thousands would heed.
The words of His wisdom, and that of God
As many miles on foot would he trod
Let Peace be on earth, would be His command,
And nothing less than this should we demand!
On the Eve of His birth let us all be blessed
And thank our God as we see the end of our quest.
Let us all stand together, as brother and friend
And pledge our love, and respect to a world without end.
Together we stand, in joy and in sorrow
and praise the birth of Jesus with the light of tomorrow!

The True Meaning Of Christmas

Jesus Christ was born this day
So many years before
He came a servant to the lost
Though he was Lord of Lords

We celebrate this joyous time
Reflecting on His birth
Not born in a mansion, but a stable
As if He had no worth

He came so He could identify
With the human heart of man
And gave His life as a sacrifice
Offering a better plan

A plan that reconciles us back
To our loving Father God
Bringing hope and redemption from
Sins ruling iron rod

For this is the only reason that we
Should celebrate this day
To become focused on anything else
Would take the meaning away

So let's arise with joy in our hearts
And share it with everyone
The meaning of Christmas will always be
The birth of Jesus - God's son
(Poet - M.S.Lowndes)

Christmas Once Again

It's Christmas once again,
Yes, it's that time of year,
To reflect now and then,
And wish that you were here.
To talk about the story,
About a baby born one night.
A King without His glory,
Who left His throne of might.

The babe grew into a child,
And the child became a man.
The King dwelt among His people,
But they would not understand.
God left His Heavenly splendour,
The Son came from above.
He became a simple servant,
To show that He was love.

Then one day He died,
Crucified upon that tree.
Even now I wonder why,
Why did He die for you and me?
Christmas without Easter
Is only half the story;
Jesus, the Son of God,
Arose again in glory.

He didn't come that night,
Just to give us a holiday;
He came to give us life,
And showed He was the Way.
Immanuel, our God is with us,
As the prophets had foretold.
He redeemed us with His precious blood,
Not with silver or with gold.

The wise men later brought their gifts,
Knelt and worshipped at His feet.
Like a wise man, will you give
Your heart to the Prince of Peace?
(Poet - Jerry Bouey)
